Creative United Movement’s First Creative Gathering

About a week ago, an old pretty friend of mine invited me to Creative United Movement’s First Creative gathering which was held at a cozy cafe called the Palate Palette located at somewhere near the heart of Kuala Lumpur. I was hesitant to go at first but since I haven’t met my friend for God knows how long, I decided to take the plunge and just be there - I was invited like on the day itself, several hours before the event! I don’t blame her, she was just too busy that she didn’t remember to invite any of her personal friends.

Anyway, from that party, I did enjoy myself and I got to know a lot of people from the creative industry. The highlight of coz would be getting to meet celebrities like Joanna Bessey, artists like Mun Kao, Za-zi, DJs like Blink, Twilight Action Girl and Malaysia’s Diva status stand-up comedian (she was the Emcee), Ms Joanne Kam Poh Poh, who’s famous with her own brand of candid naughty jokes and sexual innuendos.

Besides that, I got to meet the fun and cool people from Lucideas and Don’t Panic Online. Lucideas was the organizer of the party while Don’t Panic Online was the company in-charge of the door gift. I’ve gotta say, it was a pretty “creative” door gift with a Creative United Movement (CUM) branded underwear, a condom and loads of promotional leaflets.

About the leaflets, well, I wasn’t very sure if I paid much attention to them, in a modern era like now, I strongly disagree with printing of leaflets only to have them thrown into the dustbins. They should just go online and save tonnes of production costs. Anyway, back to the party…

It was a rather free and easy thing, everyone finally arrived after an hour or so from the actual arrival time and the party started right away. While Emcee Kam Poh Poh was getting ready, everyone else were mingling and collecting their free vodka limes. Naturally, she started the night with her introduction of the artists and included some highly entertaining jokes.

Then, the highlight of the event took place which was a creative painting session. The artists (3 of them) were given a blank canvas each and a specific amount of time to paint anything they want. After 5 or 10 minutes I think, they simply swap places and continue painting whatever is already painted.

At the end of the day, all canvasses were painted by 3 different artists and one of them was amazingly beautiful - sorry guys, really, there was only one which really stood out. I left slightly earlier but I heard that the “after party” party was even greater with great music and everyone just danced so happily.

Well, I’m definitely looking forward to attend the next event which will be 3 months away, they have it quarterly at this point. Here’s a quick picture I took with my pretty friend Elaine Yuen and oh-la-la… Joanna Bessey…
