Living up to my beliefs, and my resolutions for 2009, I’ve finally managed to kick-start my overall fitness program by hitting the gym last night. Boy was it difficult to get started after months of rest!

I started slow and jogged for about 45 minutes, walking and jogging in between. Then I pumped some weights to fire up my muscles. Ended the session with a great sauna session.

Come to think of it, I actually went to the gym without a gameplan, and that’s bad! Without a plan, most people waste a lot of time walking around the gym wondering what to do next. In the end, they end up either totally clueless and didn’t do much, or waste too much time without working on the right muscles. Last night, I fell into that trap too. Since it was my first session after a long break, I guess it’s ok to just warm up a little.

Moving on, I’ll definitely work out a gym routine to maximise my gym efforts for maximum results, focusing on an overall “body-shrinking” plan, increasing stamina, and boost muscular fitness. Stay tuned for more fitness tips and progress reports.

It’s been 3 weeks plus now since I started my super weight loss and body toning program, progress has been slow for the past 7 days or so. What can I say, I fell sick.

Anyway, it’s time to pick up where I left off, time to hit the gym soon. There’ll be a slight change in my workout routine, where I’ll make good use of the secret one set technique to save time and make each gym session more productive.

Oh, I’ve started drinking green tea now, if my calculations are right, I should be announcing positive progress results real soon! Cool!

Tone your muscles, jazz up your appearance and fight age-related muscle loss with weight training in just 20-30 minutes a day!

Surf any body building sites or articles and you’ll find an endless series of articles or tips that teach you to do 3 or 5 sets of repetitions and what not. To do a full body workout, you need like 90 – 120 minutes a day. That’s a lot of time to spend in the gym!

Let me share with you a secret… you only need to do one set of repetition for each muscle group!

Research shows that a single set of 12 repetitions with the proper weight can build muscle just as effectively as three sets of the same exercise with lighter weights.

“Use a weight heavy enough to tire your muscles after 12 repetitions,” says Edward Laskowski, M.D., a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., and co-director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center. “At the proper weight, you should be just barely able to finish the 12th repetition.”

In just 20 to 30 minutes, you can do a complete series of weight training exercises for your arms, shoulders, abdomen, chest, back and legs.”

Get your facts right, don’t waste time pumping hours and hours in the gym when you can do it in 20-30 minutes a day ;)
