Sep 14, 2008 Social Media Marketing
Social media marketing, the latest and hottest buzz word in the digital marketing arena now. Sadly, most people still don’t understand much about it, and they think they do but they end up screwing it up in the end anyway resulting in, well, something not so interesting lol…
They say a picture tells a thousand words, so, here’s a quick interesting story for ya, edited and re-written something I read some time ago from www.thekaiser-edition.com………

Hmmm, did I just made this into a corporate blah by leaving my contact as such?
Hahahhahahah, let me know what you think!
Cheers!
Top three reasons to advertise on Facebook
Aug 21, 2008 Social Media Marketing
OK, I’ve previously talked about how social media is changing the rules of marketing. Here’s the top three reasons why you should advertise on Facebook and leverage on this giant social media network which was recently ranked as the number 1 social media network, ahead of MySpace, Friendster, Bebo and the likes.
Why shout when you can get close enough to whisper?
Here’s what I find interesting about advertising on Facebook - most of their ad units are non-traditional and most of them are incorporated into the news feed - something which most users would sweep for the latest updates and such, whenever they login!
Get the target audience you want!
Apart from that, you can get super specific about who you want your ads to be seen, it’s almost like laser targeting. You can specify your targeting parameters to things like country, state, city or town, age, gender, interests, activities, music, TV shows, education, high school, college, major, workplace, relationship status, profile keywords, and books.
Wow! What other advertising channels allow such super laser targeting advertisements?
Can you think of any?
Free channel to interact with the consumers with Facebook pages, why not?
Unlike Facebook profiles, Facebook pages are meant for businesses or individuals. What better ways to get to know your target audience or potential customers compared to building a social relationship with them?
Create a Facebook page for free, make it fun and let the consumers write on your wall, upload photos, become a fan and do many other social activities just like what they are already doing on Facebook.
Did I mention that it’s free?
How social media marketing is changing the marketing rules
Aug 18, 2008 Social Media Marketing
In the past, people look at social networks as exactly that, social networks… It wasn’t that long ago since the word social media marketing came about. Now, in just a short few years, it’s one of the hottest digital marketing topic, getting hotter everyday! The chart below, published in an article at www.emarketer.com, projects that online advertisement spending on social networks will reach $210 million by 2012 - that’s only 4 years from now!

In the US alone, social media networks have mushroomed into far more business professionals oriented social networks. And there are so many social networks out there that can show you similar trends.
Some very good examples are social networks like ITtoolbox, a 1.3-million-member community of information technology professionals; Legal OnRamp and LawLink for attorneys; and Reel-Exchange, for film and video professionals.
So, here are some questions all marketers should look at…
How did this happen?
Why does it happen?
What should we do with social networks then?
The how and why…
Business professionals are sociable people too, they socialize and make friends too. And when they join social networks full of professionals in the same or similar industry, I bet there’s a lot to talk about as they at least some common interests. Or better, they can source for help in certain ways and get helpful resources or tips, all the while having some fun at the same time!
What marketers should do with social networks?
These social networks are the online venues where the business target audience are hanging out. It only makes sense for marketers to spend their marketing budget there. Engage your target audience at places where they are already comfortable with! Warning though, not all social networks are right for your business. Do your homework, do your research or get someone (digital marketing agency) to do it for you.
With a well-planned and executed online campaign, you can expect a great brand exposure. Even better than that, make your campaign bloody interesting, so interesting that people in the social networks talk about it, that’s free mileage for your campaign! Create enough dialogs and you’ll enjoy a lot more from your marketing budget, almost 100% guaranteed!
