Yes, it’s been postponed, that means I get one more week to practice. It’s kinda awesome actually, I was playing at Staffield yesterday and I sucked real hard hahahah. Totally forgot to apply my new found swing with the “wrist rolling action” I was talking about earlier. Note to self - Time to hit the range!

This is absolutely awesome. As a golfer, don’t you just wish to be able to play like the pros, play with the pros and be among the pros? What if you can do that, NOW!!??

Well, I present to you, a U.S. Open that you CAN play (drum rolls)

Ladies and gentlemen…. I present to you…

*

THE VIRTUAL U.S. OPEN

So you failed to qualify for the U.S. Open. And you didn’t win a spot in the Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge. Dry those tears. You can still play the Open — virtually.

The USGA, working with the World Golf Tour, will conduct the first virtual U.S. Open at usopen.com. And it’s free. You’ll compete by computer on a photo-realistic version of Bethpage Black under Open conditions. The winner will receive a trip for two to the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, as guests of the USGA.

You can practice for the closest-to-the-hole challenge now on usopen.com. Starting May 25, you can enter a qualifying round of 18 holes. (Qualify as many times as you want — your low score will count.) On June 22, the low 156 qualifiers and ties will play the final 18 holes — one try only — for the grand prize. Slow play is no issue: Your 18-hole “round” should take 40 to 60 minutes. Play away at usopen.com.– Bob Carney

Played at Bandar Kinrara today. Overall score was still bad, at 112 strokes, but I learned something very important about my backswing today. Apparently, I haven’t been hitting my balls accurately due to my bad backswing, which causes a shift in my height on my downswing.

By observing my flightmate, I noticed how he rotates his wrist on his backswing, and then rotates back on the downswing. I gave it a try, and it worked! I think what happened was due to the wrist rotating action, or referred by some as the “rolling action”, the backswing became more natural and thus no adjustment in height was created upon downswing.

Towards the end of the game, my balls were flying high and straight, I even got a par 5! For that particular hole, my second shot was already an approach shot, almost got a 2-on for a par 5, it was awesome! So looking forward to the next game next Sunday!

Here’s a little something I learn today:

Learning Golf — TJ Tomasi

Has its Own Rewards The process of learning your golf swing (or anything else) begins when you challenge your brain by flooding it with new information — a new grip, a different aim, or a brand-new start to your downswing. To handle the overload your brain adds connections and your neural networks grow in size. Once the growth has occurred, the brain rewards itself by releasing pleasure molecules called endorphins, the reason you feel good when you learn something. Given this built-in reward system, the message is clear: to learn how to swing the club, the best thing you can do is be patient, accept the temporary chaos, and let the endorphins rage.

Went to Staffield again last Sunday and managed to collect my 10th scorecard for my handicap application. The game was bad, scoring 120 strokes for 18 holes, that’s terrible lol. What I notice is, my long games are fine, it’s the chipping and putting that’s giving me all the extra strokes, what a waste.

You know what they say, it’s the short game that really matters! Here are some links to sites that I’m reading about short games:

If you’re looking for some educational materials on golf short games, here are two good ones for you:

Had a little surprise too, we managed to see an iguana right before it dived into the water. Here’s a picture of that little bugger.

Now that my scorecards are complete, I’m sending them in for my handicap application this week. Will update again once I the results are out.

Besides that, I’m joining the AGN Golf Challenge as mentioned in my previous post. Competition takes place at Bandar Tasik Puteri Golf Club on 28th June (last Sunday of the month). Wish me luck in winning anything, lucky draw at least? Hahahaha

Also, I’ve just got a brand new phone since my previous one is dying out. Got myself a Nokia E71, great phone, love it! Below’s a picture of the phone, if you’re considering to buy this phone, here are some good links for you to find out more:

Quite an eventful weekend isn’t it?

Remember, life’s short, live it AWESOME!

Wow, 2 and a half months, that’s how long I’ve gone without any new posts. Time really flies!

Just a quick catchup, a lot has happened since my last post, I’ve been playing golf quite consistently every weekend and I’m getting better and better with my swing. The last game I played, I had 3 pars in a roll! What a thrill!

Long story cut short, I’ve got 9 scorecards now and I’m getting my 10th scorecard this Sunday at Staffield. With all 10 scorecards, I’m gonna submit them and apply for my handicap, let’s see where I am hahahah

Also, there’s an upcoming golf tournament by AGN (Asia Golfing Network) which I’m really interested to try out. Modified stableford, hmmmm, it’s not gonna be easy considering I don’t even nail pars very often hahahaha. Details about the tournament below:

Anyway, gotta go now, cheers!
